We may only be four months into 2020, but I’m sure you will agree it feels like a lot more time has passed whilst we are still in quarantine! As we have not been able to go out for non-essential trips, I haven’t been bothering with much makeup but have had plenty of time to get back into doing my skincare routine more thoroughly and it’s already thanking me. I also like to read other’s posts about their favourite beauty products so I thought I’d join in and share my own.
My Favourite Beauty Products
Neal’s Yard Rejuvenating Frankincense Toner
I’ve always been a bit dubious when it comes to toners as I didn’t really understand what they did and why people spent so much money on them, so I bought a mini Neal’s Yard kit to try out several products in one go and this was by far my favourite.
I apply with a cotton pad up to twice daily, after cleansing. I found that it removed any dirt that the cleanser had missed and had a really cooling effect on my skin, which was very relaxing before bedtime. It also prepares your skin well for any products you will apply afterwards to moisturise.
Barry M Dazzle Dust
This is one of my most recent purchases and I already love it. You can use it as eye shadow or sometimes I add it to the top of my cheeks like highlighter – it’s really reflective and looks so pretty! I have tried a few glittery products like this before but this is the best one I have found because it’s so pigmented, you really only need the smallest amount.
LUSH Oaty Creamy Dreamy
I’ve had eczema all my life and it’s such a drag. Any soap that is perfumed or contains harsh chemicals can easily make my skin flare so I have to be super careful with bathing products. I had read good reviews of this so I ended up buying it and I will keep buying it!
Some people complain about the smell but I really like it! It’s made with lavender, olive oil and oat milk which I find really relaxing. My skin is the MOST sensitive and this product does not irritate it at all. It feels really moisturising and leaves my skin feeling soft whilst leaving me feeling clean. If you also have sensitive skin I would definitely recommend giving this a go! I’ve reviewed a few products from Lush on my blog, if you’d like to read others you can view them here.
md Formula P.H.D Lift And Firm Collagen Facial Serum
I bought this serum after trying several other brands and almost giving up on the whole idea of using one. Thankfully I found this one that leaves my skin feeling SO mmmh. I use this before I moisturise my skin and it feels so soft and hydrated. Obviously I don’t really need ageing treatment just yet, but if this is something you need to focus on then this product would be suitable as ‘collasure’ is known to be really good for signs of ageing.
I’ve put the official website link on to the button above like all the other items, but it is expensive. The cheapest one I’ve found online so far was on Amazon for £49.99 so that may be an option if you’re wanting to try this out.
Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel
I’d read so many good reviews on Mario Badescu products so I ended up buying a few but I think this one is my favourite so far. This is your typical cleanser but it doesn’t foam up so leaves my skin feeling really clean. I usually apply this with my electric cleanser thingy and it feels really nice without being too rough on my sensitive skin. It does have a smell to it which I think is mainly the cucumber and tea tree but it’s a pleasant smell which is not too potent.
(PS… Here in the UK I did struggle to get hold of the Mario Badescu range as the website is USA based. They do ship to the UK but the delivery cost is super expensive. I have attached the Urban Outfitters link (where I bought this in the end) because I have more readers from the UK than from the US)
Colab Dry Shampoo
This dry shampoo is just slightly more expensive than it’s biggest competitor, Batiste – both available from Boots. I have tried both but the Colab version won it for me as I found the smell nicer and not as overpowering. I have quite thick hair which doesn’t need washing every day but I rely heavily on dry shampoo when I’m working my early mornings! It does not leave any white residue and gives my hair a nice lift to make it look more fresh. (can we appreciate how cute the packaging is too!)
Burt’s Bees Pomegranate Lip Balm
I LOVE pomegranate so this was the first one I was drawn to, but I have bought several flavours so if you’re not loving the idea of pomegranate then there’s sure to be a flavour available that you will like. I have found all of Burt’s Bees lip care products amazing – they are extremely moisturising on your lips even if they are super chapped (like mine) and I like how it doesn’t leave a residue so nobody can tell you have any product on. I would totally recommend these lip balms in this cold, windy weather to prevent your lips from drying out and cracking.
That concludes my favourite beauty products that I’m using in 2020 so far. These products came out before this year but they are my current favourites that I’m using pretty much daily. If you’ve tried any of these products or want to share your own favourites, let me know by commenting below!
Thank you for reviewing this blog post and I hope you’re all staying safe.
