• Mummy Meagz Vegan Rocky Road Review

Hello again! I hope you’re all staying well and enjoying this gorgeous weather where you can! Today I am writing yet another review… Mummy Meagz Vegan Rocky Road bars.
As many of you know by now, I am allergic to milk so I try lots of different vegan/free-from treats as I have a huuuge sweet tooth which I often struggle to satisfy with this allergy.

The things I end up buying from supermarkets tend to taste… a bit meh. Or are lovely but super expensive and I can’t justify buying it. Lucky, in this blog post I am writing all about these lovely rocky road bars from Mummy Meagz which defy the problems I mentioned above – they are DELICIOUS, taste like they contain all of the good tasting stuff like milk and egg but don’t. And for the quality and taste, I’d say they’re pretty good value too! It’s been a very long time since I’ve had a rocky road as I’ve not found any that are suitable for me to eat, so this was a real treat for me to try out. Let me tell you more about them…

What is Mummy Meagz all about?

Mummy Meagz is a family-run vegan business that started back in 2003, when they opened their own coffee shop called ‘Blondes’ in West Yorkshire, serving delicious vegetarian and vegan food. I’m based in Devon, so this would be a little far for me to travel… luckily, at the start of 2020 Mummy Meagz’s delicious rocky road bars were launched in Holland & Barrett, along with their vegan version of the creme egg, the ‘Chuckie Egg‘. If you’d like to find out more about Mummy Meagz, you can have a look at their website here.

What about the rocky road bars?

So, the rocky road bars are currently available in four delicious flavours. All of them are…

    • Vegan
    • Gluten Free
    • GMO free
    • Containing no artificial colours or flavours
    • No fruit! Just the good stuff. Because no one really *craves* fruit.

    Original Rocky Road

Your standard rocky road flavour. Mummy Meagz somehow manages to obtain that rich chocolatey crunch in these bars without using milk or gluten. My boyfriend is one of the lucky humans that can eat whatever he wants, and he couldn’t tell that they didn’t contain 13 out of the 14 main allergens.

Sea Salt & Cinder Toffee Rocky Road

I’m not a huge honeycomb fan but I really enjoyed this flavour, to my surprise. They contain just enough toffee to make it tasty but not overpowering, which pairs really nicely with the sea salt. They taste like a crunchie flavoured rocky road!

    Orange Rocky Road

I’ve never had an orange rocky road before, but these are my boyfriend’s favourite. The minute the packet is opened, the gorgeous orange smell hits you, it reminds me of when you open a Terry’s chocolate orange! This is making me hungry….

    Minty Rocky Road

My personal favourite. I don’t know how long it’s been since I’ve been able to have a minty chocolate treat, but it has been a long time. The balance between the mint and the chocolate is totally delicious and feels like a really luxury bar. I will definitely be buying these in Holland & Barrett.

    So, Is It Worth It?

In a word, YES. Even if it’s just once for a treat, I would 100% recommend trying these. If you do end up buying them, then let’s face it, you’re probably going to end up repurchasing because they are so moreish and totally delicious!

You’re going to end up paying a little more for any free-from treat – they are not as mass-produced as other confectionery and I’m sure the ingredients are more expensive and difficult to get hold of. However, you DO get what you pay for with these Mummy Meagz Rocky Road bars. They are currently available in Holland & Barrett for £1.49 per bar which is a lot cheaper than other speciality bars, and in my opinion, twice as nice!

That concludes my review for these delicious Rocky Road bars. I was NOT paid to write any of this information – I was simply sent these rocky roads for an honest review and here it is! Thank you for reading this post, and I hope you can go and enjoy one of these yummy treats.

Ooooh now those sea salt and cinder toffee ones sound amazing! I must admit, I quite enjoy making rocky road 🙂

These sound amazing – especially considering how many allergins they’ve eliminated. As a gluten-free person, I absolutely appreciate companies that can create something actually delicious!
