• Aussie: An Impulsive Experiment

I’ve heard so much about Aussie shampoo and conditioner that I decided to give it a go myself. My banana flavoured Body Shop shampoo was looking more than a little sad in my shower so it was time for an upgrade.

I don’t like to randomly buy beauty products without knowing much about them – I’m one of those annoying people that spends a little too long looking at the vast selection available, watching people come and go and making it look like such an easy choice. I am not loving how my hair looks at the moment so I really wanted to give it a bit of mmpphh. I hope you can see what noise I’m trying to portray.

I did go out on a bit of a whim with this purchase, it was more impulsive than usual but a) I had heard such fab things about it, and b) Wilko’s “buy 2 and save” deal got me good & proper. Thanks Wilko.

    So much choice!

As you can see, there are so many to choose from and this is just shampoo! There is something for every hair type, I opted for the MEGA one because it’s said to give you ‘bounce’ so that is mainly the one I will be reviewing, along with the conditioner.

    My experience

The first time I used it, I really liked the smell – much later on in the day my boyfriend noticed that I had used a different product and really liked it, I was surprised that he could smell it as potent as he described. I didn’t see many results at first, though.

After a few more applications is when I really saw some more results. My hair is quite thick so I have experienced it being quite dull and heavy looking but since I’ve started using this shampoo it has been much lighter and bouncier. Aussie say that this is due to the Kangaroo Paw Flower extract in the shampoo. The more you know..

I don’t tend to wash my hair every day as I’m one of those lucky people that can get away with it a bit longer – my hair does get much darker when it needs shampoo though, and I found that this keeps my hair looking light even when it’s not freshly washed.

    Conditioner

In the last few months I probably should’ve given my hair more TLC than it has received. I don’t have much patience when it comes to conditioning my hair – I’d usually shampoo, sometimes heat protect spray and leave it at that.

Considering the offer that was mentioned above, I thought I may as well pick up some conditioner too. I ended up choosing the same MEGA one to match the shampoo, and I was happy with my choice.

It is recommended to leave the conditioner on your hair for around 3 minutes. I am one of the dimmer in our species when it comes to concept of time, so I wait for my playlist to start a new song to apply, then wash it off when the song ends. Perform the song to the best of my ability whilst waiting, of course.

When my hair emerged from the towel I threw on my head, I still resembled a wet-haired yeti but I could already feel how smooth my hair was. Usually it would be a knotted, painful mess which I would have to brush through several times to bear a resemblance to myself.

After blow-drying, it was silky smooth, smelt great and I LOVED it! Thanks Aussie <3

After looking on the Boots website, I have seen that they have a “save 1/3 offer” (Oct ’19) so I have embedded the links below if you wanted to try it out yourself.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my cold weather hair saviour, if you’ve used this yourself then let me know what you think in the comments!

I like the honesty and humour in this review. I do like Body Shop though and have not heard of this brand before #Blogtober19

My stepmother tried Aussie shampoo and conditioner recently and raved about it. I still haven’t got around to buying any for myself but I will be soon x
